If not for excess greed and ego we wouldn't need government's half assed efforts to balance the playing field.
The wealthiest among us could care less if the nation is Christian, Muslim, Slaves or sick and dying in the streets as long as they meet or exceed their income/wealth goals.
The more they screw their workers the more the profits and bigger the bonus. It's a fact of life in todays world your value depends only as far as they can't get someone who will work for less or replace you with a machine.
Things were much different before the late 70s than they are now. At time it was the norm for skilled workers to be considered company assets - these days skilled workers are lucky to keep their jobs after the current project ends. Significantly migrant workers are cheaper than slaves.
