I just restored a KA-9100 and this isn't something I'd want to learn on. You have a very nice receiver and without the proper tools, you don't want to make it worse.
If you are close by bring it over and I can tell you quickly what is wrong with it and what it will take to get it working.
if you are not close, I'd suggest finding someone that is familiar with these and have them look at it.
