If you've seen other posts from me, I'm an advocate of restoration prior to dealing with tube issues. In general, if the power supply had been rebuilt and the bias is set correctly, then you shouldn't be having equipment-related issues and it really is an output tube problem. I know as I've rebuilt enough of these old amps to know the difference.
To your specific question, I am using EH KT-88s in a set of recently-rebuilt MC-75s. The tubes are from Jim McShane. They're reasonably priced, IMHO, and I know they've really been tested - and properly at that. That's all I ask from a tube and its supplier. They are singing with authority through the Mighty UREI 813s as I write this.....
So, what's the status of the MC-60s, then?
Cheers,
David
