...the various 22xx's I have, the dial lamps are all in a little white plastic tray with a plastic cover on it, inside the case. No need to remove the faceplate or any mechanism. The plastic gets brittle from age and heat so gentleness is in order. Perhaps the 2270 is configured differntly.
