Don't know much about the 4200, but I've had both a 4275 and a 4300 receiver - The 4275 to me was not that great a unit sound-wise, but the 4300 was an absolute masterpiece - I found one once in a garage sale believe it or not, but it had a huge gash in the faceplate - looked like someone had accidentally cut a notch in it with a power saw. When I learned that McIntosh didn't make replacement faceplates, I decided to let it go and reap the profits. Then I wound up selling the 4275 to a friend and he loved it, but I would bet it doesn't sound as good as a 4100, 1900 or 1700 even. I'd put my current Stereotech 1200 up against any other Mac receiver except the 4300.
