One other option no one has mentioned is that this is exactly the kind of problem that HD radio is designed to solve.
HD is not a higher fidelity audio, as we all wish, since it involves bit rate reduction. But it does include several ways to better reception. And better than the sat services, is that you don't pay a subscription fee!!
Since you are in the big city, you'll get a bunch of new programming choices to listen to! The existing analog FM stations will repeat programming on the first digital carrier and then most will have additional formats to pick from too.
At this point the up front cost is similar to the Satellite rigs (and going down), but you don't ever have to pay the monthly bill. No more multipath noise and no more distortion from the analog required pre-emphasis/de-emphasis process.
