have leakage from this process into the audio / decoding processes, at least some such tuners do not sound as good as ones using analogue dials, yet similar decode / audio and output stages. Many at the FM tunbers group at yahoo feel this way, and others don't.Some of the best AM?FM tuners I have used have had digital read out, and had good sound that I could listen to for hours. Indeed one from AKAI had wide band AM, and fading the display had no effect on the sound.
BTA I now use analogue tuned valve RF stages for AM and FM and have never had such good sound.
