Home Radio Road

Which tuner to get and getting the most from it. Thank God, for the radio!

Not only can you NOT do it by ear

but there's not that many people with the right equipment and training to align an analog tuner properly. Mike Williams of Radio X will do it for about 50-60 bucks which is very reasonable. It's also well worth it as you'll have better reception, a quieter signal and better sound quality. Whatever you do don't touch at all the variable capacitor adjustments or you'll really screw things up. Just send Mike an Email and he'll take care of you. He's always backed up so the wait can be a few months but well worth every penny.

A tuner not properly aligned isn't working anywhere near where it should. If this is a vintage analog tuner for a few bucks more you should have him replace the power supply capacitors too.
