Home Radio Road

Which tuner to get and getting the most from it. Thank God, for the radio!

Re: Fired Up the Luxman T-12

Since my work has forced me to temporarily spend most of my time out-of-town, I will not be able to give updates until I have a chance to return home every other weekend... Phoenix is not the place to be for engineers right now...

That said, with limited listening, I have to say the Lux T-12 is a keeper. It is the first dedicated FM tuner I've had that I prefer to my beloved Harman/Kardon 930. It's simply cleaner, has excellent reception, and most-importantly, it's listenable.

In regard to antennas, I use a "cheapie"... Contrary to some others here, I do *not* think large or outdoor antennas are necessarily better. For I find FM antennas have a "sound" in themselves, just like audio cables. And for that reason, I'm reluctant to spend money on an expensive antenna just in case I end up not liking how it sounds. (I do not like the sound of "powered" FM antennas. I also avoid outdoor antennas due to lightning concerns.) It's also that since I like the sound of the "cheapies" I have, no reason to bother trying to fix what ain't broken.
