docw asks "What are the exact attributes or problems with the sound? You cite sonically without telling us what? I am eager to understand, since you seem to know it all. I am humbly listening to a Hafler DH 330 and Dyna FM 3."Well docw, I don't know it all :-)
The best source of info on tuners are the guys and gals at the FM Tuner Information Center at www.fmtunerinfo.com - Give them a visit and you can spend hours reading their web pages and their archived files in Yahoo.
But I don't mind sharing my opinions about products I have hands-on experience with.
I found the subjective bass response to be equally good in both the F-93 and the F-91, but they began to diverge in sound quality, IMHO, starting with the midrange.
I found the midrange of the F-91 to appear much more 3-D with more front-to-back depth and wider stage width listening to the Saturday afternoon broadcast of Texaco's Metropolitan Opera Broadcast than the F-93's midrange. The F-93 seemed to be more two-dimensional with a more narrow sounding stage than the F-91.
And I found the high end of the F-93 to sound "harsh" and not as realistic as the high-end of the F-91. This was more noticible on jazz music high hats and cymbals - I found these sounds to simply sound more like what I hear live listening to them on the F-91 than on the F-93.
BTW, the Pioneer TX-9500 II is also a suberb tuner and not one that should be overlooked.
And, as always, YMMV.
