Would be overkill for a preamp as well.
Thought about converting my GM70 amps, currently have 2-6ax4 tubes and its connected to an arduino with about a 90 second delay.
1100volt would surely give a light show, 4000v would give you some nice xrays....
Whats nice about the 83, they don't sag much and hold a nice steady voltage.
