Dave
For the last 6 years or so I have been happily tooling along breadboarding and building amps. I have lost count of how many I have breadboarded and I have actually built at least 8 amps and preamps. They all had one thing in common, I always used an established schematic. That is one of the blessing/curses of this hobby, you can build and enjoy equipment to your hearts delight without ever having a single clue as to what makes it all work. You just need to learn how to read a schematic and keep your left hand in your pocket.
In some ways I like it like that because I am not really all that interested in why it works. However, lately I have been getting this terrible itch to actually design something of my own and that is going to be a whole new ball game I fear. I am going to have to decide if I am willing to put in the time and effort it will take me to understand the theory. You know how everyone has things they learn easy and things they learn hard? Well electonics theory comes hard for me.
Anyway... I guess a good place to start is by doing your homework assignment and seeing if it makes me curious for more or makes me swear off and run back to the schems. I really appreciate your taking the time to put it together and I will give it my best shot.
Thanks!
Vince
