Re: Impulse Purchase (Piltron 1250 ohm PP 400W) output transformers

You don't have to go anywhere near 400W.

I have VDV2100 (PAT4006) which are 2100 Raa rated at 100W and am running them with Parallel Push Push Triode Mode EL34s with zero global feedback for 40 to 45 Watts of gloriously open and detailed sound. Full Power (45W) bandwidth is a rediculous 8Hz to 210kHz - because I'm not running the OTs up to the 100W limit. I suspect that the 210kHz limit is in my driver and not the Output Stage.

1250 Ohms Raa means 4 pairs of the common stuff (6L6, KT66, KT77, EL34)
You MIGHT get away with 3 pairs of the beefier common stuff (KT88,6550)

Cheers,
Ian
