I have a pair of W-5Ms that I haven't really used, which is a shame considering how much I paid for them. Anyway, the phase splitter is a split load type, which has different impedances and different wave forms for the two outputs (I'll explain why, if you'd like). If you're going to be in there rewiring for a different tube, how about designing (or adapting someone else's design) for a better phase splitter, like a constant current long-tailed pair? The linearity and common-mode rejection of that circuit I just love.
