SS amps need less than 100v but at significant current. For example I just finished a 60Wx5ch SS amp and built a +/- 34v supply at 12 amps! Here a switching supply would make some sense but still it's rare to fing switching supplies in high end HiFi amps. Halcro is one exception I know of. QSC uses them in PA and Theater amps as well.Tube amps need high voltage >300v and less than 500ma typically. This is far more efficeint to acomplish with 60hz supplies then with switchers. Switchers are best for high efficiency and weight. For any non-portable power amp nothing beats a fat power transformer and good filter caps. For tube amps, throw in a decent choke as well.
