In my stable I still have one RT-1020L and one RE-2022. They are fine consumer machines, quite reliable and have good sound. The RT-2022 was Pioneer's attempt at the semi-to market, and it was not a bad attempt, with some nice features. It comes in a flight case with a nice handle on top, and I have a very, very clean sample - see the picture. But my main interest is in professional machines, 2-trak format and high speed, things like that Sony, because that is where you get the best sound quality.
Now, your question on a stand... there are many sizes on ebay and on line in general, but I like a tall, 25U size one, because it will let you have your machines at comfortable level - you don't want to lie down on the floor to thread the tape.
In fact, you might consider an even taller one.
With such a rack you can mount the machines on the top, and below you can have shelves and trays, etc. for convenience. Usually there is a provision for casters, which makes it even more convenient.
