Hi.The ESR (equivalent serie resistance) & ESL (equivalent serie inductance) of a 'lytic cap block somewhat block the passage of high frquencies. That's why even used as power supply filters, a 'ltyic cap should be by-passed with a film cap for high frequency passage.
I replaced all the non-polar 'lytic caps of my loudspeaker X-over network with non=polarized PP film caps.
Yes, they improve the sound bigtime.
