Don't think to fast that the chip is broken. Mostly with your description of the problem is that there will be a bad solder or contact. When heating up the PCB's and chips do expand a little, than they lose contact.
So open the dac and check with a strong lamp all the solderjoints. Check not only the Yamaha chip but also the logic parts and the other chips.good luck
