Most cheapo DVMs are better than 1% accurate.What differences were you seeing?
A few things you can try:On DC ranges:
A new AA battery, about 1.6V
Your car battery with the engine not running, about 12.5V
Ditto with the engine on fast idle, about 13.5vOn Restistance ranges:
Short the probes together:about 0.1R to 0.5R (the resitance of the leads and probes)
