Re: Connecting RCA to XLR

It isn't the connector that will get you. It is the impedance change that will. RCAs almost always indicate high impedence and XLRs low impedance.

A source that is high impedance isn't going to like the 600 ohm load that the XLR jack has on the amp. Most times the bass will roll off quite nicely. I have seen 20 db of roll off at 20 Hz due to impedance mismatches. A source that is expecting a 600 ohm load can be an issue as well unless you terminate it with a 600 ohm load.

My advice is to buy some new cables and don't change from RCA to XLR from one end of the cable to the other.
