jcox, you got the measurements wrong. Please recalculate. For the record, a -3dB response at 35KHz would be about -1db at about 17KHz. (as a rule of thumb) Of course, this is something, BUT you had to be there to hear the difference. It was BIGTIME, and real. If you moved your ear in front of your own loudspeakers a few inches, you would have a much greater change in amplitude response. I measured this when CD was still in its beginnings, and brick wall filters were even more compromised. Personally, I was surprised that I heard any difference. I had worked for the Grateful Dead, for years, so my hearing could be suspect, but Karen Richardson, formally an audio reviewer, heard it as well.
