I want to try a configuration of drivers but don't know enough to be sure I won't blow something. Can anyone help me. Its probably simple.I've got a pair of enclosures each with a Sacnspeak Revelator 5" woofers (8530) and Scabspeak tweeters 9900. They are powered by 2 amps that have built in active crossovers. Each amp delivers 100w to its respective channel woofer and another 100w to its respective channel tweeter. I've got the crossover point set at 2500 (-24db per octave) and the high pass level is set to make up the difference between the sensetivities of the woofer (85.5db) and tweeter(91db). The enclosure volume is correct for this configuration.
The system as is lacks depth, power and presence in the soundstage in the bass frequencies from about 100 -800hz (I think). I have a Scanspeak sub (25W) separately powered for the very lows. But I also have an extra pair of the identical Scanspeak Revelator 8530 woofers in similar sized enclosures and I would like to see what connecting them in to the system would produce. So my question is:
How would I connect the extra drivers into this system, keeping it two-way? The amp is supposed to be okay with either 4 or 8 ohms, but I am a novice at things like phase shifts and other potential problems. There are also no separate outputs for extra speakers from the amps. Currently, each driver on the original setup is separately wired.
If there is a way I can wire the new and old woofers together, can I still utilize the active crossovers and level adjustments and if so, will the settings need to change? Will anything else need to be added?
Thanks so much!
