I've mentioned this recently in one of the forums, and received the suggestions that sluggish performance is probably the result of network congestion, or something, but there must be more to it. I've experienced this annoyance no matter what time of day or night, and it's the only site I'm having trouble with. Here's what happens:When clicking the Submit button, the blue status bar barely moves. After a brief period, the "I'm working on it" alert window and chime pops up. The status bar crawls ever-so-slowly until it reaches half way or even less, then stalls. The little pair of computer monitors icon in the taskbar goes dark. At least some of the time, if I then click OK in the alert window, the screen instantly jumps to the next screen, where my message is shown in its entirety. After clicking the BACK button in the normal fashion, the screen goes to the thread page, and after hitting refresh, my post appears.
What I don't get is that if I don't click the OK button in the alert window, the status bar would never (as far as I know, and I've waited a long time) progress past about half way. The transaction gives all appearances of being dead in the water, or data stream, if you wish.
I'm using dial-up (pause, until the laughter subsides) and I'm used to the experience of variable traffic speed, but this seems to be a problem apart from the normal, especially given the odd hours that I've encountered it. And to repeat, it seems intermittent.
Please help!
Thanks,
Neil
