Think it's time to shoot the damn horse, Rod.

Just a little history here for Tin-man and a reminder to Rod. My text in italics, Rod's and Ted's text in italic bold.

March 28, 2003, from RodM:

And he's used this troublemaker argument to back his threats to have me banned from AA numerous times.

I don't know the specifics, but I don't agree with that argument. The problem is having a context for it. I definitely have been known to treat some folks more harsely than they deserve, if the deserved it at all, based on what's happened elsewhere or recently. But Jon's never asked me to ban you fwiw.

Howdy Steve

Hey, I just thought I'd say, that despite our little discussion on Cables the other day, that I think you've been being quite even handed of late (please don't take this as a left handed complement :)

I know that you and Jon can barely control yourselves with respect to each other (and I'm in the dog house with him too :) but aside from that I wish others who 'discuss' things a lot could remain as level headed...

BTW, it's also good to have you helping at random with the little questions around the place. (No implication intended that you ever didn't or that you were unhelpful at random, etc. :) )

July 1, 2003, from Ted Smith:

Howdy Steve

Due to recent posts and behavior on your part, including posting profanities and personal attacks, it has been requested by the Moderators of the Cable Asylum, that you be banned from the forum for an indefinite time period.
This decision was not arrived at lightly, nor was it done in haste.
However, it is felt that your excesses are now outweighing your
contributions to the Cable Asylum, and your continued presence is a
detriment to the forum as a whole.

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

July 1, 2003, from Ted Smith, after I asked him what "recent posts and behavior on your [my] part, including posting profanities and personal attacks" he was talking about:

Howdy Steve

As was mentioned in my message this wasn't a quick decision. We talked for a while about it. I wouldn't say that any of your posts on cables for the last few days was a problem.

July 14, 2003, from RodM:

the fact that it's been two weeks and I'm still banned from Cable Asylum and don't know if it's because you're reluctant to pull rank on Jon or reluctant to tell me you think the ban was justified.

I told you before, I thought, that I didn't agree. But we've always run AA on a con consensus and I've been reluctant to pull rank. I'd rather lead that horse to the right pool for a drink of water. Sometimes that takes time. On a couple of occasions, I've ended up shooting the damn horse. I was hoping that some of the interchange on Prophead would smooth things, but it's gotten worse. Ted talked to Jon and we both wanted that to end up with a mutual conversation. But Jon dug in his heels. I need to have a conversation with Jon, I suspect.

I think it's time to shoot the damn horse, Rod.
