Cookie Crusher Slows Down AA load time??

I've been silently complaining for several months at how long AA takes to load. Last night I discovered that the problem is not AA but the fact that I'm using Cookie Crusher to block unwanted cookies. Even though I have Cookie Crusher set to accept all AA cookies, it make the pages take from 10 to 30 seconds to load. Is this a common problem with Cookie Crusher or is it related to the fact that it sets up a proxy? A search on "Cookie Crusher" and "proxy" failed to turn up anything. BTW I use mostly Netscrape.
Any help would be appreciated. I lovee cookie crusher, but it's also nice to have my old (fast-loading AA back too)
