I have a lot of experience buying, and selling, audio gear. It goes without saying that the seller in the transaction has an obligation, but the buyer has an obligation as well. And that obligation is to notify the seller, in a reasonable amount of time, if the gear arrives and does not conform to the description, or rating, in the ad.
If he knows that he is hard of hearing, it is his obligation to find someone with good hearing to asses the speakers and inform you of any deficiencies immediately. If a blind man bought a TV from you, wouldn't he have someone come over to tell him that it had a picture?
Beyond that, in the intervening four years could the tweeters not have aged, been overdriven or the crossover failed? The item is used, if he wanted a new item, with a warranty, he should've gone to a dealer.
