I am currently remodeling my Music/HT room.I had an acoustic consultation and plans drawn up which changed my 8' flat ceiling to an 8'high, 32" wide perimeter soffit with a 9' coffer and hanging ceiling diffusers in a 17'2" wide, 21' long room
Due to the way the top wall plate was originally constructed in the music/ HT room it now looks like I could end up with a 8' 3" soffit height, 32" wide and a 9' 3" coffer ceiling height.( We were originally going to end up with 8' and 9') How bad would this be for an additional 3 inches on both heights or either one alone?
I can probably get the soffit height down to the original 8' without too much trouble, but getting the coffer height to 9' , while doable, will be more of an issue. Just a reminder, the room width is 17' 2" and length will end up being close to 21'.
I am concerned that the 8' 3" soffit height is getting close to 1/2 (a multiple)of the width dimensions, although it is only a 32-34" wide perimeter around the room. I kind of need an answer ASAP for my contractor and the original designer is busy at CES and cant give an answer for a week or more. If I don't hear back I will go for the 8' soffit and 9' 3" coffer.
