As it pertains to bass quality only, which is better? A very rigid ceiling built with Quietrock over plywood over 16" on center framing which would not allow for any significant bass energy leak and therefore a more "predictable" room responce (which could be treated with bass trapping as necessary after completion) or.... simple sheetrock over 16" on center framing with no plywood backing, thus allowing some bass leak into a small attic area potentialy reducing excess bass energy. Each design was suggested by two different respected acoustic experts . I am sure there is no totally right answer, just looking for some other opinions on this subject. The floor is hardwood with an area rug over a very well built rigid 6" subfloor over slab.
