Your posts are quite confusing and it is impossible to tell whether you are considering using your teaching room as your listening room as well. No doubt others will disagree with me on this but I would prefer a livelier room for live music and a somewhat deader room for listening to recorded playback.I think it's hard to overdamp a room, but covering the major part of the room surfaces with absorptive materials could well be too much. What you want is bass trapping in the corners and absorption at the side wall early reflection points plus perhaps on the ceiling. Some diffusors elsewhere could help.
