Technical and scientific discussion of amps, cables and other topics.

his sort-of autobiography

Surely You Must Be Joking, Mr. Feynman....this is really great, episodes from many parts of his life. Then there was a sequel, not quite as good, I don't recall the name right now.

I would very highly recommend his book QED, the Strange Theory of Light and Matter. This is written for laymen, meaning it avoids heavy math. But if you persist with it, it's a very intuitive view of quantum electrodynamics.

And for a project that will take some time, you cannot do better than start working your way through his 3 volume Lectures on Physics. This was the introductory physics text at Cal Tech. So the math starts out pretty light, but you do need some acquaintance with calculus. Again, he has a beautifully visual and intuitive approach to understanding the way physical laws operate.
