Hmmmmm Richard so you finally let the cat out of the bag? You guys just wanted to give me a hard time because you believed I took audio soooooo seriously?Well I suppose I do take it a bit seriously, but not in the way you guys believe. I take ANYTHING that I might spent thousands of dollars on quite seriously, just like I would take buying a used Isuzu @ $6K or a new Pioneer PRO1410HD Plasma HDTV TV 61" Flat Panel @ $4.7K etc. I cannot afford to spend a few $K on something that's not worth the $$$$. I have to honestly admit that except for a couple of morphine induced somewhat extreme mood swings, which you feel made for some very interesting "classic" posts, I was actually amazed at the types of responses I'd receive to my posts, from the measurements prove everything crowd.
The ONLY response that ever really bothered me here on the Asylum was UNsoundmind's (gee now that I think about him, which is something I enjoy not doing, I realize don't miss him even the slightest little bit) but I digress, the ONLY response that bothered me was his response of wishing I died or something to that extent. It didn't even really bother me that he said it so much as it bothered me that anyone could care sooooo much about audio to wish that apon someone who disagreed with their opinions!!! That's when I knew he really was UNsoundmind. But as far me actually taking my opponents responses too seriously I cannot tell you how many times on the way home from work, I'd be laughing so hard I'd start to cry as I told me wife about my latest escapades at the Asylum and how people responded to my posts, which in a perverse way, I also found very entertaining ...
Richard your one fact you know about audio that you will never debate: You have to listen to something before you accurately criticize, or express doubt about, its sound quality. I agree with you on this point 100%.
For your second fact you know about audio where you believe that any human can listen to a component, declare it sounds wonderful, or it stinks, and be completely wrong about that component. I have to disagree with your assessment 100% as stated. How can one's opinion be wrong? Unless you're comparing this listening session against an established reference standard (and even that reference standard would need to be agreed apon, as being a valid reference standard) everyone's opinion is valid no matter how much you or I disagree with what they say & believe. So nope I'd have to disagree with you on this one Richard.
