Hi.A brandname class-D power amp, designed by a you-know-who somebody who patented hundreds of audio designs in USA alone, did emit RFI picked up by an AM radio closeby, reported by a critic of a non-profit-making e-journal.
Yes, class-D is a beast not that easy to tame due to its high foudametnal switching frequency & its higher orders (we're talking some 500KHz & up RF). If the amp is not designed & built adequately & components not chosen right, to prevent undesired parasitic energy emited from in-circuit inductors, caps, unstable power supply, lousy designed PCB ground planes, etc etc., seal it in a metal box !!
With all these uncertainties to worry about given commercial productions are always cost oriented, users of class-D audio amps must have a very good reason to hang on to it.
Would it be its 90% plus efficiency to delivery hugh powers in a tiny enclosure or it sound awesome vs low efficiency low power analogue audio designs?
