I'm suprised nobody mentions this blurb..are you guys asleep at the wheel????Quote:
""Perceptual coding, as compared to source coding, pays primary attention to the intended reciever or destination of the signal, rather than the source or source model of the signal. This destination is usually the human being. By eliminating imperceptable information in the signal, compression rates that are substantially better than....""Italics mine.
Hellloooo!!! jneutron to earth, jneutron to earth...
KSSSSSSHHHHHHHHHHMav::where did he go?
Goose: where did whoooooo go?
(well, ok, it wasn't them, but I don't know the other's callsigns.)It is my contention that the threshold of imperceptibility is violated by mp3 coding at basically all levels of compression, and that even CD's can do such.. and, I suspect that (holy mackeral) even mundane things like speaker wires and iC's and line cords could cross that line..
Hmmm..ya know, that sounds suspiciously like a set of topics that would be of interest on an audio forum that specializes in technical discussion...
Does anybody know where I could find a forum like that??
Cheers, John
