Cars subs are designed to be used in- guess what??? Cars. In other words, small confined spaces. Pro sound subs are designed for large spaces and high output levels. Excursion is a matter of each individual driver's design parameters. The Yamaha SW115V is an entry level speaker and with a low end cut-off of only 55Hz does not qualify as a true sub. You can use a car sub if you wish, but the end result will likely be the same.
