If the goal of a rear-loaded design is to extend the lows of an high Fs midbass driver in lieu of a dedicated subwoofer, then what is the advantage of loading an 18" (low Fs?) woofer in such a manner? If greater efficiency and/or cone control isn't in the offing, then what's the point of further bass extension in a club-sized box? Having done my share of running sound for Weekend Warriors in small-to-medium clubs, I knew there was little to gain from reproducing any bass signal below 40Hz, unless one enjoyed dimming their lights! Once again, I refer to the TR Audio design from earlier discussions (www.TR.ca). By the way, thanks for the education!
