By using an Alesis RA150, you would get, among other things, :
- a studio monitor pro amp;
- no fan;
- excellent sonic quality (I know it);
- a suitable PA to feed the MG1.6 which are very demanding to a PA because of their tortured low impedance curve.
- a peak sound level @440Hz of 93dBSPL
- IMHO, its drawback is that it uses only outdated jack connection for its balanced input.
You can prefer the Alesis RA300. With this one, you get a 440Hz peak of 96dBSPL, and a regular XLR for balanced input. Other characteristics are similar.
The third of the series, the Alesis RA500 is too powerful if you don't want to blow out your speakers (and your ears too)
BTW, I made the SPL calculation taking into account the directivity of the planar in the vertical plan, its dipole configuration, its line-array shaped emitting area, and its partial mirroring on the ceiling and total mirroring on the floor. Other values used :
- ceiling height 2.70m;
- magnepans @1m from back wall and side walls;
- listening position @3.5m from each speaker.
