Look at the Emu sound cards. Sony digital pictures makes SOUND FORGE which is decent software to record 2 channels with but there are some others: Cakewalk SONAR is another. You can get very sophisticated with it depending on how many channels you want to lay down. You really need two of the same kind of mics to record a stereo 3d space if you want original ambience. I would stick to IEEE 1394 firewire interfaces which are much faster than USB. Ray Hughes
