I want to compress a PORTION of a mix. There must be a better way of doing this than .......suppose I have 6 stereo into my mixer. (12 channels) and I want to use a compress on 2-5 of the total mix. The way I'm thinking now is to use the Alt 3&4 out and send 2-5 to this output. Havea compressor from this output and put it's output into another set of inputs and then I think 1, 6, and 2-5 compressed mix would be summed out to the main outputs for recording.
Is there a better way? My current mixer (junk btw) doesn't have "inserts" if that is what would do this.
