I have a severe hum when I hook my satellite receiver into my home monitor system. The satellite receiver appears to have a "hot chassis." When making or breaking connections to the rest of the system, one can get a bit of a spark. It also causes a severe hum.The only outputs the receiver has are Left / Right / Video. I have an Ebtech Hum Eliminator which I will try throwing into the path for the audio signals. Is there a similar isolator for the video rca connector?
My other option appears to be to go pick up a new satellite receiver. I am concerned about the voltage appearing on this one's chassis.
I do not currently use AC conditioning in this system, and hope to avoid that for a few months at least. Or are there any decent conditioners to check out for less than $300 (less than $200 preferred)?
By the way, does anyone have any experience with or information on the Radio Shack hum eliminator? When I asked for information on this product at Rat Shack, the employees freaked out.
