You need a cardiod, dynamic non condenser. You're not gona find a good quality condenser under $200. Also look for a EV RE15, RE20 or the Shure SM5 or SM7. These have good resale value if they are in good condition. I would stick with a Variable D and avoid the Single D mics (like the EV DS35) which have pronounced proximity effect the closer you get to them. Just my opinion! Ray Hughes
