The best Quantagy to use is GP9. If you don't use GP9, then 499. I have used all three on my Nagra T. GP9 and 499 bias the same way. If I recall (its been a while since I had to buy blank tape) the price difference between GP9 and 499 on metal reels is insignificant but there was a decent gap between 499 and 456. If you aren't buying large quantities, it is fairly negligible.
