I mix sound twice a year at an outdoor venue that consist of 15-18 one hour sets over two days. It could be an acoustic act followed by a full band, then a round robin on stage. Theres maybe 10 min max to set up between. No sound check and some of the performers I have never heard before. I always get good comments on how great FOH sounds.
The problem is that often they will throw someone on stage not scheduled. Often someone grabs the wrong mic...
I have no roh so I pretty much wing it on monitors from out front using headphones then stepping up to verify.
I feel it is chaos on stage.
Can anyone offer any suggestions on better stage oganization? Tips to get more comfortable with such a stressful gig? Sympathy?
