I don't ever seen, heard or measured Borbelly's nor Williamshart's equipement. I read info on their sites. As for me, being an EE, i would choose Borbelly's. Because I was given technical infos, even general schematics. The boards are seen close-up, and I'm able to check they are well enginered (although I do prefer much more dense layouts, but I know it wouldn't be easy for big-fingered DIYers). The technical rationales are xpressed, and they are ...rational, with no expensive high-end magical components or principles.
Maybe I like it mostly because it's quite the kind of equipment I would design myself if I should have to ;-)
On the other side, Williamshart uses big amounts of marketing hypes, with quite no real technical info shown, or, if ever, rewritten by the marketing LIC (Liar-in-Chief). That said, maybe their designs are exquisitely done and would sound great for years and years, they just don't give me any serious info to make my opinion.
In these audio topics, I do prefer a technically driven company to a marketingly driven one. Because it has to do with my own wallet and satisfaction better than share holders'
