Hot air rises, so put your fans at the top sucking air out. Have fresh air vents at the bottom. Also the rule of old timers is to put the power supplys or things with much inductive coupling (large power transformers)at the bottom or botom rear if you have a dual side rack. Put the preamplifier stages toward the top seperating the preamp from the power amp/supply by several feet. Units with built in power supplys do not apply except you have to be careful in stacking high gain preamps over units with big power trannys inside for it can cause hum. Ray Hughes
