Why?

The Fender Twin was a great amp, as was all their line in 1965- and then CBS bought Fender. The engineering team that took over decided that they'd 'improve' the amps with shielded wiring, higher grade caps, SS rectifiers and other tweaks. Within six months Fender sales plummetted, because all the so-called improvements ruined the tone of the amps. If the tone is clean it isn't Rock and Roll. If you like it clean, fine- switch the speakers to EV or JBL, but once you make internal changes you'll ruin the value of the amp. Make a Fender totally clean and you might as well be playing through a Roland Jazz Chorus.
