Yeah, good luck with that. Sorry, don't mean to be a spoiler-sport, but DSP is probably the most mathematically intensive (in terms of practical applications -- short of modelling), non-intuitive, intense programming ever.

My recommendation: either hire a mathematician who can program, or hire a programmer who is good with math. Or revisit existing products and see if you can cobble together what you are looking for.

Now, that said -- just redirecting inputs to outputs isn't all that complicated -- sounds to me like what you want is a computer. Get the right number of soundcards ("right number" == right number of inputs _and_ right number of outputs), the right software (most any software that can handle multiple soundcards should have mixer and routing functions), and the rest should sort itself out.
