What new eq? The DEQ2496 has already run it's coarse and is no longer available in the US. You can still buy one, but they are no longer imported into the US. The rumour over here is that we'll see a 24/192 version early next year....I wouldn't hold my breath, but the Germany shops are buzzing about the news. No offical comment from Behringer at this time...I bugged them a couple of weeks ago after I heard the news.So whats special about the DEQ? It depends on what your using it for. As with other Behringer products it's designed to be the swiss army knife of the inexpensive eq world. The sound quality is not too bad via the analog out....you could actually use it as a cheap d/a and be very happy with the sound quality. Be warned at these prices the parts are cheap and don't last very long. I have three that are acting as paper weights at the moment.
To answer your question there is not a lot difference between the two units except the 24/96 chip set, but I could never input 24/96 on mine....all had a limit of 88.2. The unit internal processing is at 24/96.
