I'm having trouble deciding which to buy for recording. One is analog and one is digital. I have the chance to buy a Revox B77 1/2 track with 15 ips. This is the 1/4 inch tape version that the head records over the full tape and cannot be turned over to continue. The other is the Alesis Masterlink. I guess it breaks down to analog sound vs digital. The Revox may be slightly cheaper to buy, but more expensive with tape down the road. Of course CD-Rs are cheap. But I'm wondering about sound quality. Would the analog sound more natural or is the Alesis now good enough to compare? Im aware the B77 is only rated down to 30hz. I would think tape would have a warmer sound. Or is this no competition and the Alesis wins hands down?
