I am new to the PRO world, and need some help on a mic pre.I am using it for room measurements for digital room correction using my Lynx 2b sound card.
I have 2 Beheringer ECM 8000 mics for measuring, and I need a pre-amp for the sound card.
It seems that most cheap mic pres are tubed. Which normally, I would cheer, and I was all set to buy the Presonus blue tube.
BUT, I think the tube warmth would be incorporated into the measurement, and REMOVED by the room correction (since the warmth is not coming from the room), leaving me un-happy.
So, is there a stereo pre in the $150 range you would recommend.
Or, since I will probably only use this for a day or 2 then probably not again until a move, are there places that rent good ones?
Also, the DRC tutorial talks about a mono measurement (one mic at the listening spot), but I was thinking of putting 2 on my head (left and right, attaching them to a hat, etc) to simulate where my ears would actually be. That, and I don't have a stand. Would it make a difference whether it is mono or stereo anyhow?
Thanks!
