you must "know" the style of the music to mix it correctly.
every year here we have a large jazzfest w /top name acts.
the event uses a large sound co who should stick to the rock acts. they overkill on volume
i've seen to many jazzer's get the r+r sound treatment,to much bass and drums and all else uneven and lost in the mix.the best sound mixers are usually musicians thenselves (for some reason bass players make good mixers)
